PORTFOLIO

Picture
First took a concept illustration and designed it to be fabricated, then fabricated it out of just 9 main parts.

Took first place in back counter displays at the SF POP Show for a major brand.  Yes, those are full bottles; no, I didn't drink them... all.

Materials:  edge-lit orange and yellow acrylic and opaque black and orange acrylic, lit from underneath, with a fluorescent fixture inside the oval base.

Fabricated by Mr. Plastics.

Design, fabrication and installation plan for Old Navy's introduction of a new product line in their San Francisco and Manhattan flagship stores... created in one week and installed overnight by two of us.

The white logo lettering is unique, cut from clear and sign-white acrylic and fabricated at Mr. Plastics.  You can see it more clearly in the photo at right.

All other fab work was done at STi In-Store.  The light box was formed from Diebond and Sintra, backlit with fluorescent fixtures, which were also used in the top boxes, behind-shelf light boxes and on the product sign shelves.  It was bright!

Drawing, engineering assistance and fabrication of the first "visible" pin-ball machine.

It is fully functional and you can see exactly how everything works, from the time you release a ball into play, through scoring until the ball drops out of play.

This amazing machine has toured all over, and is a highlight of the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda, California.

Materials:  clear acrylic and all other original machine parts.

This finished industrial part was designed, thermoformed and finished with trimming, holes, cutouts and reinforcements.

Material:  black ABS.

Material:  leftover PlayDough.

Map wall design, fabrication and installation in a major power company.

We were supplied only with a set of [plastic] relief maps.  We created a foam backing to support the maps, trimmed by hand and assembled into a "puzzle" of 18 individual trays, installed one by one on the wall.

Materials:  clear and black acrylic.

Fabricated by Mr. Plastics.

Dubbed "the tree of life," three of these complex culinary displays were used only a few times, and only for desserts!  (See right >)

David calculated precise geometry for this design... truly a unique display... we've never seen anything quite like it.

We designed the display and parts, and sketched out a fabrication plan, and then Mr. Plastics fabricated the displays.  The acrylic tubes were custom bent (very tricky) to exact dimensions and all are water-tight.  The display comes apart for cleaning.

Materials:  clear and white acrylic and clear acrylic tubes.

We designed, engineered and fabricated the irregular cone-shaped taxi topper.  That was wrapped along with the whole taxicab to look like a "big-top" circus tent.  We designed a similar topper in the shape of a shark fin for a regional aquarium.

Materials:  ABS and ABS regrind composite sheet.  Vinyl graphic wrap.

Our home page shows a section of this culinary display system David created exclusively for Executive Chef of the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.

Two towers were fabricated with yellow, red and purple acrylic, capped by white acrylic.  The round serving trays fit in slots for individual use or display in the tower.  Sets of round trays were cut from yellow, red, purple and frosted clear acrylic to allow for color changes.

The tower itself can be removed from the base for easy and safe movement and storage.

Plasticreative specializes in culinary display pieces, and has worked with several executive chefs.
